Do you or someone you care for receive the higher rate mobility component of the disability living Allowance (DLA) or the new enhanced rate of the mobility component of the personal independence payment (PIP)? If so, you, or the person you care for, may be entitled to a brand new car every three years.

John Grose is a family-owned Ford, Citroen, Peugeot and Kia main dealer and a preferred partner for Motability, which is the leading car scheme for disabled people. They were also commended in Motability’s Regional Dealer of the year awards for 2013. And, so people can find out more about the scheme and the models available, John Grose is holding a Motability Awareness Day on Friday, June 20.

In return for the higher rate mobility component of the disability living allowance, the enhanced rate of the mobility component of the personal independence payment, the war pensioners mobility supplement or the armed forces independence payment, Motability customers receive a brand new car every three years and enjoy the following inclusive package – comprehensive insurance, roadside assistance, road tax, replacement tyres and windscreens and servicing and maintenance.

To qualify for the scheme you don’t need to drive – you can nominate up to two friends, relatives or carers who will drive the vehicle on your behalf. Vehicles can also be adapted for the individual’s needs. There are a wide range of adaptations available including swivel seats to help getting in and out, wheelchair hoists and push-pull hand controls instead of foot pedals. Many adaptations are available at no additional cost.

John Grose’s second annual Motability Awareness Day on Friday, June 20, from 10am to 5pm, is being held at its dealerships on Ransomes Europark and Goddard Road in Ipswich, and in Whapload Road, Lowestoft. The event is dedicated to informing those who may be unsure if they are eligible or want to know more about the scheme. Everyone will be made welcome by John Grose’s friendly team of Motability specialists. It will also give Motability drivers of other makes of vehicles a chance to see what Ford, Citroen, Peugeot and Kia vehicles can offer.

Available exclusively at the event will be adapted demonstration vehicles along with specialists to advise on the adaptations available, wheelchair-accessible vehicles, a range of scooters, wheelchairs and mobility aids, complimentary refreshments, a free prize draw with prizes including an iPad and much more.
