THIS is the last picture of murdered fitness fanatic Dawn Walker - captured on a CCTV camera just hours before she went missing.

Murder squad detectives have released the image taken of Miss Walker exactly two weeks after her charred and semi-naked body was discovered in a Suffolk beauty spot.

The footage shows the 37-year-old visiting the reception area of her gym in Fornham St Martin, near Bury St Edmunds, just hours before she was last seen alive at her home in the village's Oak Close.

Detectives leading the inquiry into the brutal killing say they have so far received a "positive response" from the public, and are now hoping the footage will jog the memory of anyone who used the Swallow Suffolk Hotel and can help fill in the missing final hours of the printing assistant's life.

"We now know that Dawn was in the gym on Wednesday, February 2 and although exact timings are not known, we believe it was during the evening," said Det Supt Roy Lambert, who is heading a team of more than 30 officers investigating the death.

"We hope that releasing images of her captured on CCTV will jog the memory of anyone else who was in the gym on the night that Dawn was last seen alive.

"If you were at the leisure complex on Wednesday, February 2, we need to hear form you as a matter of priority."

It is unclear when Miss Walker changed from the outfit worn in the CCTV footage, as she was wearing green cotton walking trousers and a blue zipped top when she was last seen at 9.30pm that evening.

But just 45 minutes after the last sighting at her home address, two people were heard arguing in the Oak Close area. The fitness fanatic failed to report for work at Abbey Hine in Bury the following day and was reported missing on Friday, February 4.

Her charred and semi-naked body was discovered next to the River Lark in Fornham Park at around 5.10pm that evening. The EADT revealed yesterday her face had also sustained serious burn injuries.

"We would still appeal for anyone who heard the argument in the Oak Close area at around 10.15pm on Wednesday, February 2 to contact us," added Det Supt Lambert.

"Posters are being displayed at various key locations in and around the local community, and we hope these will bring forward further information from the public.

"Specialist officers continue to support the family at this most difficult time."

Detectives are still awaiting the outcome of further tests ordered following an inconclusive post mortem on Miss Walker's body, and as yet cannot specify a time or cause or death.

It is also unclear as to whether she had been set alight before or after she was killed, or if she met her death by the riverbank or elsewhere.

Anyone with information about the murder should contact Bury police on 01473 613999 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111. Information can also be emailed to incident.room@suffolk.pnn.police.uk or texted on 07624 800174.
