St Peter’s church in Sudbury hosted a day of free music on Saturday to mark the Heritage Open Days initiative.

Over 700 people dropped in to the Big Busk to enjoy solo performers and local bands, including Pick Yer Feet Up, The Bijoux Toots and The Flaming Llamas.

The Belchamp Morris Men entertained market-goers outside the church while Sudbury charity the Bridge Project provided a pop up café and Ten Dollar Chimp ran a bar. A magician was also on hand to entertain children

Chairman of the Friends of St Peter’s, who organised the event, Peter Gray, said: “It was a great day with some great music.

“St Peter’s is currently working hard to widen the venue’s appeal to all ages. With live music consistently coming up in our audience development programme, it made sense to focus on music for this year’s Heritage Open Day.

“We were very lucky to be supported by bands and singers of such high calibre, all of whom gave their time for free.”

Heritage Open Days is England’s largest festival of history and culture, where historic venues across the country are encouraged to open their doors to celebrate their heritage, community and history.
