POLICE are investigating after the fully-clothed body of a woman was found in the sea off Suffolk and Essex.
The body was sighted by crew on an anchored ship early this morning and reported to Thames Coastguard at Walton-on-the-Naze.
An RNLI lifeboat from Harwich was sent to the scene where the body was recovered from the water.
It was taken ashore at Harwich Quay at about 9.30am.
A police spokesman said that inquiries were underway to try and identify the woman's body, which is thought to have only been in the water for a few hours before it was found.
He added that the death is currently being treated as “unexplained”.
