Firefighters were called out to tackle a van blaze on the A12 this morning.

The incident happened on the northbound carriageway at the Seven Hill junction at Nacton and one crew from Ipswich East was sent to the scene at 9.10am.

A Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “The fire crew attended a van fire caused by a severely overheated gearbox. One hose reel was used to cool the vehicle.”

The incident was over by 9.35am and there was minimal disruption to traffic.
