The daughter of the Commons Deputy Speaker and a district councillor was found by her mother, the opening of an inquest heard.
Natalie Lewis-Hoyle. 28, was found dead by her mother, Maldon district councillor Miriam Lewis, last Friday, December 15.
In a tribute on Facebook, Ms Lewis asked anyone with information about her daughter’s sudden death to get in touch with Essex Police.
“It is with unbearable sadness that I have to announce the sudden death of my beautiful, much adored daughter Natalie,” said Ms Lewis.
She added that anyone who had been contacted by “Natty” on Thursday night should get in touch with police and said her daughter’s mobile phone was missing - possibly left on a train from London Liverpool Street to Ipswich.
She added: “Natalie is my only child, my mini-me. Please help me find out what happened to her in the hours before her death.”
Natalie’s father, the Labour MP and commons Deputy Speaker, Lindsay Hoyle said his family will never be the same following her death.
Writing on Twitter he said: “I am truly devastated by the death of our beautiful daughter Natalie.
“Our family will never be the same without our loving granddaughter, sister & aunty. Thank you for the kind support we’ve received it is overwhelming. Please continue to respect our privacy & allow us to grieve.”
An inquest into Miss Lewis-Hoyle’s death opened today, Friday, December 22.
The opening statement read: “On the December 15 Miss Lewis-Hoyle was found by her mother, she was hanging from a door. An ambulance was called and her death was confirmed.
“The police attended and their enquiries are ongoing.”
A post-mortem investigation was carried out at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford by pathologist Dr Cary and the cause of death given as “compression of the neck – consistent with hanging”.
The posts by Miss Lewis-Hoyle’s parents were shared more than 100,000 times and met with an outpouring of sympathy.
Politicians of all parties, including Suffolk Coastal MP Therese Coffey and Clacton MP Giles Watling, as well as high profile journalists, including Emily Maitlis, tweeted their condolences.
An Essex Police spokesman said: “Officers were contacted by the ambulance service shortly after 6.45am on Friday, December 15 with reports a 28-year-old woman had been found unconscious at an address in the Beeches Road area of Heybridge. Sadly she died at the scene.
