RYE House captain Chris Neath has congratulated Rockets colleague Joe Haines on his superb performance against Birmingham on Saturday.

The teenage Bolton Wonder claimed 15 points from six rides as Rye House beat the Brummies 53-37 in the second leg of their KO Cup first round tie.

Neath felt it was a timely show of strength by Haines ahead of this weekend's World Under-21 qualifying round in Hoddesdon.

Speaking after Saturday's victory, Neath said: "Joe [Haines] did really well tonight, which sets him up nicely for the U21 round.

"We want all the home boys to do well next Sunday, and I'm sure that Joe will go full of confidence into the meeting alongside Robert [Mear] and the other Brits."

Joining Mear and Haines in the 16-rider field at Rye House will be former Rockets favourite Tai Woffinden and new British U21 champion Lewis Bridger.
