A HEROIC neighbour saved a father and baby from a fire in their flat.
The drama, which unfolded at Charlston Court in Seaview Avenue, West Mersea, last night saw the 35-year-old woman dash into the flat after hearing a smoke alarm.
She then managed to lead a 29-year-old man and his 17-month-old baby to safety.
Fire crews from Colchester and Mersea attended at 10.36pm, but all three had escaped the building when they arrived.
The trio were all suffering from the affects of smoke inhalation and were left in the care of paramedics.
The fire, which was put out by 11pm, is believed to have started in a cooker.
