Suffolk students battled it out in a competition held to inspire young people to “find a focus” in pursuing sporting careers.

Around 160 year nine students enjoyed a “fabulous day” at Inspire Suffolk in Ipswich for the Take Your Place, Get Set, Go! event, which featured a variety of sporting games, coaching experience, a careers fair and talks from sports professionals

Organised by the Network for East Anglian Collaborative Outreach’s Take Your Place Programme, the event aims to encourage more young people from under-represented backgrounds to pursue higher education and apprenticeships. It featured schools from Ipswich, Stowmarket, Felixstowe and Haverhill – and was won by Northgate High School

Event organiser Jackie Partridge said: “It is about inspiring these young people to take their passion for sport and help them find a focus for it.”
