I was chatting to a friend and her 16-year-old daughter in the theatre bar, after the Willy Russell.

She took out her mobile to phone her husband so they could meet up and, at the same time as she pressed the call button, her phone rang, as he called her.

The resulting dilemma caused her so much angst she lobbed the phone to her daughter: “I don’t know what to do,” she wailed as her daughter calmly answered the call.

Technology, eh?
