A new physiotherapy service has been set up at Leisure World in Colchester.

It is based at the centre’s gym where physiotherapist Lucinda Deekes offers a suite of services including rehabilitation, sports massage and pre and post-natal physiotherapy.

She specialises in musculoskeletal and sports injuries offering one-on-one sessions to help people towards better health and fitness.

Treatment will involve bespoke exercise plans to improve strength, range of motion and endurance and to correct postural and muscle imbalance, joint mobilisation, manipulation and soft tissue massage, as well as stretching and trigger point therapy to reduce stiffness and to relieve pain.

The fitness facilities at Leisure World include the 100-station Activa gym, new functional training area, two swimming pools and 90+ group fitness classes every week, along with courts and pitches for a range of ball and racquet sports.

The addition of physiotherapy means the centre can now meet even more of its customers’ fitness needs.

Annie Feltham, Colchester Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Commercial Services, said: “When you’re working to improve your health and fitness, preventing further injuries and getting the right kind of exercise is as important as raising your activity levels. Having a qualified and skilled physiotherapist on-site is a great resource for anyone with an existing condition and adds an extra dimension to the comprehensive fitness facilities at Leisure World.”
