Vistors to Newmarket this weekend have the unique opportunity to go behind the scenes at British horseracing’s headquarters as well as sample some cuisine from around the world at the town’s food and drink festival.
The Newmarket Open Weekend, held on Saturday, September 16, and Sunday, September 17, sees top stables open their doors as well as available tours of Rossdales Equine Hospital and the Jockey Club.
The Newmarket Open Weekend has raised £225,000 for local charities over the past four years and this year will support the Racing Welfare Newmarket Housing Project, the Newmarket Day Centre and the Newmarket Academy.
The Newmarket Food and Drink Festival will run alongside the weekend, with celebrity chefs, live music, exhibitors and entry is free.
Taking place across Palace Street and in the Guineas, food writer Sophie Grigson and chef Theo Randall, from BBC’s Saturday Kitchen, will showcase their cooking tips over the weekend.
