A man was seen to grab a woman who then called out for help, police have said.
Officers have carried out door-to-door enquiries after two teenage girls reported the incident taking place in Granary Road, Newmarket.
Police were informed at about 7.30pm on Wednesday after the girls saw the man get out of a car and grab the woman.
She has been described as in her early 20s, of slim build, with brown or blonde hair in a ponytail and wearing a grey cardigan.
The man is of Asian appearance, in his 30s, around 5ft 7ins tall, of skinny build, with short dark hair and was wearing a leather bomber-style jacket and black jeans.
It was initially believed the woman had been forced into the car. But police now think she was only grabbed. Call officers on 101.
