A WOMAN struck by a car along a village road has died of her injuries.

The accident happened as the 21-year-old woman walked along Isleham Road in Fordham, near Newmarket, at about 11.45pm last night.

A team from the medical charity Magpas was called to the scene and were flown there by police helicopter.

They arrived within 15 minutes.

The woman, who is from Fordham, was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge with serious injuries.

However she died of those injuries a few hours later.

Police are investigating the crash which involved a VW Scirocco car driven by a 21-year-old man from Fordham. He was not injured in the collision.

Dr James French, of Magpas Helimedix, said: “We are always deeply saddened by incidents where people cannot be saved and our condolences go out to all those who have been affected.

“Whenever accidents like this happen, Magpas aims to provide the highest possible standards of pre-hospital critical care.

“We hope it is of some consolation to the woman’s family and friends, that she received the highest possible standard of pre-hospital emergency medical attention.”
