SCOTT Nicholls is putting club before individual interests as he takes his place in the Ipswich Witches line-up at Lakeside tomorrow night.

Nicholls, who first of all is leading the Witches in tonight's clash at Foxhall against high-flying Swindon, should be heading off for Grand Prix practice duty tomorrow afternoon, with the Witches travelling for another crucial Elite League clash to Essex.

However he'll be lining up at No.1 for the Suffolk side at Purfleet rather than being in Denmark for the Nordic Practice.

“It's great news that Scott has decided he would rather race for us rather than practice ahead of Saturday's GP,” said Witches boss Pete Simmons.

“I know he's having a difficult time in the GP's, but he has made it clear to me he wants to race for Ipswich rather than practice.

“I'm delighted and it gives us a real chance of picking something up from the meeting.”

Simmons would be more than happy to retain Nicholls for 2010, but knows he is a Coventry Bees asset and their needs will come first. However he did make this point.

“Coventry have a host of top assets. They can't fit them all into one side, so hopefully Scott will be available next season.”

Before that however the Witches entertain Swindon Robins at Foxhall tonight hoping to keep their fine run of home form going.

“We keep saying each week, it will get tougher to maintain this run, and it is proving that way,” Simmons added.

“But if we want to keep any outside hopes alive of reaching the play-offs, we must get all three points.”
