A MOTHER who had been arrested on suspicion of neglect following the death of her 12-year-old disabled daughter will face no further action.

Tracey Bonne, of Greenfinch Avenue, Ipswich was arrested by police officers earlier this month when her daughter Laiken drowned after allegedly tipping over and falling into a water filled bath on January 3.

But last night a statement from Suffolk police said: "Following a full investigation into the death of a 12-year-old girl at her home in Greenfinch Avenue, Ipswich, a joint decision has been made between the police and the Crown Prosecution Service that no further action will be taken against the 29-year-old woman who was arrested on suspicion of neglect."

Although Laiken was taken to Ipswich Hospital for treatment following the accident, doctors were unable to revive her and she was pronounced dead.

Laiken's parents came to England from Zimbabwe after she was born because of the lack of necessary medical facilities in their home country.

Locals took the family to their hearts, even raising enough money to buy a special wheelchair for the youngster.
