Norfolk: Man arrested under firearms act after weapons haul found at house

A 63-year-old man from the Cromer area is being held by police after a “large quantity” of ammunition was found at a house at East Runton on Tuesday.

The property on Thains Lane remains sealed off as officers continue to investigate the haul, much of which is said to be “historic”.

They were initially called to the scene at 12.30pm on Tuesday to execute a warrant for other matters when they found the ammunition.

A cordon was put in place and the Army’s explosive ordnance disposal team attended to make the ammunition safe. The ammunition has now been seized. Further searches will be carried out today.

The 63-year-old man was arrested under the firearms act and is currently in custody at Aylsham Police Investigation Centre where he will be questioned.
