The Jaywick Martello Tower is launching its new season with an exhibition of seascapes, wildlife and portraits by local artist Carol Dawson,
The exhibition, Work in Progress: Paintings from Past to Present, will run from Saturday, March 3, to Sunday, May 6, with a preview evening on Friday, March 3.
Mrs Dawson’s paintings present nostalgic visions of Jaywick with its unique coastline, streets and people.
Mrs Dawson, who lives in the village, said: “Nostalgia is one of the main themes of my paintings, I often work from historic photos and Victorian imagery.”
Councillor Susan Barker, the County Council’s cabinet member for culture, community and customer, said: “Jaywick Martello Tower’s exhibitions do a great job of celebrating the unique culture and scenery of that area of Essex while providing a platform for local artists to display their work.”
