Over 100 schools have signed up so far from across the region in the hope of winning one of the tops prizes of £5,000, £3,000 and £2,000 respectively.

In addition all schools which take part and collect a 1,000 token will get a free sports pack worth £60.

The final totals are counted on a pro-rata basis meaning that all schools – no matter how small they are – could win the top prize.

One of the schools taking part in this year’s competition is Elmsett Church of England Primary School.

Justine Turner from the school said: “The whole community is behind collecting vouchers with families bringing in vouchers.

“Our local post office is also collecting them for us and parents are being kept up to date.”

Previous winners of the competition were Eyke CEVC Primary School.

Headteacher Lucie Fairweather said that winning the competition has provided a “massive boost”.

“We were thrilled to win the Sports for Schools competition; it shows what fantastic support we have from our parents and the local community.

“Participation in sport is so crucial for every child’s development.

“As well as keeping children physically fit, it ensures they have the opportunity to work as a team and challenge themselves physically and mentally.”

As well as winning the top prize of £5,000 the school were also treated to a visit by British hurdler Serita Soloman who helped to inspire students.

Other local schools have also had visits from athletes thanks to the Sports for Schools program.

Olympic swimmer Amy Smith visited Hintlesham & Chattisham and Kersey Primary Schools whilst teammate Joe Roebuck met children at Coldfair Green Primary.

Vouchers will continue to be printed daily in this paper until April 5.

Tuesdsay’s edition features ten tokens which can be used to help support your school’s tally.
