17 nurses from England, Ireland and the USA spent the weekend in Ipswich after being invited across by Deben Ward senior midwife Evelyn Lobley, senior paediatric nurse Natalie Steward and Geraldine Byrne, a nurse on surgical unit.
The nurses were able to look round the hospital and shared memories about how the hospital and their profession had changed.
“It was a really lovely weekend – it was just fab from beginning to end,” said Ms Lobley.
“People came from Bristol, Plymouth, Oxford and all over Ireland, as well as all the way from the US. It was so nice that they took the trouble to travel such distances to celebrate with us and reminisce.”
“It was really enjoyable and so nice to see so many colleagues again, many of whom are still working in the nursing profession.”
