OAP suffers broken hip in robbery

AN ELDERLY woman was the victim an “appalling” robbery in the Clacton area on Monday and police officers are appealing for help with their enquiries.

AN ELDERLY woman was the victim an “appalling” robbery in the Clacton area on Monday and police officers are appealing for help with their enquiries.

Essex police are investigating the incident which happened at about 7pm in the Valley Road area of the town.

The elderly lady arrived at her home address and was confronted by a man who grabbed her handbag.

She refused to let it go and was pulled over, causing her to sustain a fracture to her hip. She is now in a stable condition in hospital.

The suspect is described as a white male, slim to medium build and about 5 foot 10 inches. He was wearing a dark hoodie.

A number of gold rings, each with six stones, were stolen along with an amount of money.
