August 1992 saw the town return to its heyday as folk gathered outside Orford Castle.
Bows and arrows, duals with swords and men in metal armour - it sounds like a typical scene from medieval Britain, but these pictures were taken less than 30 years ago.
August 1992 saw the town of Orford return to its heyday as folk gathered to celebrate Medieval Day.
Set before the perfect backdrop of Orford castle - itself built in 1165 - visitors were treated to a recreation of the activities, sites and even smells that would have greeted those living locally at the time. Plenty of people tried their hand at archery on the day, whilst others decided on a more direct manner to settle score by engaging in ye olde sworde fights.
The medieval merriment seemed to be too much for some of the younger visitors though who seemed underwhelmed by the event.
