A Suffolk festival’s signature ‘silent discos’ proved more popular than ever as they capped each evening of the four-day music event.

SummerFest returned for its second outing in Woodbridge, with more than 30 bands and DJs performing at four venues around town – The Table restaurant, Kings Head and Angel pubs, and the Crown Hotel.

Ian Matthews, one half of the myFestival team that organised the event, as well as SpringFest in May, said: “We were so pleased with the whole festival.

“The crowds that joined us at each of the venues were fantastic – our largest yet.

“The bands were just amazing. We’re so happy they were all able to join us to showcase their talents.”

Marco Spina, a local DJ and the other half of the myFestival team, said: “We were really pleased with the lineup of the acts this year.

“We showcased a number of acts new to our festival, as well as welcoming back some favourites from previous events.

“Reno & Rome played an amazing headline set for the Saturday night crowd. They are always so supportive of our events, and a huge hit with the audience.”

The silent disco concept allows listeners to choose between the music played by more than one DJ on wireless headphone receivers.

Mr Matthews said: “The silent discos were some of our busiest yet – hitting capacity early in the evening.

“We were lucky to have DJ Tony Ryder join our regular lineup of DJs on the Sunday night closing party at The Crown Hotel. The place was packed.

“Seeing all those happy people makes all the organisation and hard work worthwhile.”

Mr Spina added: “We also have to stress how important our sponsors are to the event.

“Stokes Sauces, Word In Woodbridge and Living In Woodbridge for their promotion; Planet Music in Martlesham for equipment; and Steve at S.R. Epic Sound and Light for the amazing lighting.”

The myFestival duo are already planning future events.

Mr Matthews said: “Nothing is set in stone yet, but expect some silent discos later in the year, plus we’ll definitely be back for the festival season in spring.”
