The old Pets Corner Farm Park, in Oulton Broad, was taken over by experienced leisure specialist Scott Petty in January and rebranded as Oulton Broad Mini Zoo.

Upon taking the reins, Mr Petty said he was keen to make the park 'a vibrant place again' following controversy over conditions which saw more than 2,000 people sign a petition calling for improvements.

Despite concerns, an inspection by the former Waveney District Council last summer concluded there were no animal welfare issues requiring action.

But Mr Petty acknowledged the need for investment and pledged to completely revamp the park, while also revealing plans to introduce a season ticket to attract customers all year round.

Having gained a new owner, the zoo - off Bridge Road - could soon boast a new attraction after East Suffolk Council received an application for an owl sanctuary to be built on the site.

The proposal has been submitted by Fritton Owl Sanctuary, who have applied for a license to operate a second sanctuary at a new location.
