Outline plans to build 78 homes in Carlton Colville have been recommended for refusal tomorrow.

Waveney District Council’s planning committee will meet at 6pm tomorrow evening, where one of the schemes on the table is an outline application to build 78 homes off Church Lane in Carlton Colville.

The report for the meeting said the site is in the open countryside, which under planning policy was not permitted unless essential for agricultural or forestry workers to live at.

It continued that the site’s setting in the last area of open farmland by the Grade II-Listed Church of St Peter would “result in the loss of the last component of the rural setting of the church and have a negative impact on the setting of the church.”

The report added that it failed to make adequate provision for facilities and services.

The plans have attracted 22 objections during the consultation period, which range from concerns over already busy roads, flooding and drainage issues and the Waveney Local Plan having already earmarked land off The Street in Carlton Colville for 800 homes.
