A PAEDOPHILE airman has escaped from the clutches of a police escort whilst on an American military base in Suffolk, it emerged last night.

Airman Basic Jeremy Parrott, 29, was serving a three-year jail term for child pornography offences and was attending a medical appointment at RAF Lakenheath's base hospital on Wednesday when he fled.

He was convicted in July this year.

The United States Air Force has teamed up with the police in a bid to trace Parrott.

A spokesman for RAF Lakenheath said a thorough search of the base and vehicles leaving the installation was carried out as soon as it emerged he was missing.

However, the spokesman said, it is now believed he fled soon after his appointment.

The spokesman said: “Security Forces believe Parrott may have departed the base shortly after his escape and there is reason to believe he may attempt to reach the eastern coast of England.

“While Airman Parrott does not possess a US passport, he may attempt to secure transport at an airport or train/ferry terminal to travel to points unknown within the United Kingdom.

“USAF authorities are working with UK law enforcement agencies to regain custody of Parrott safely and expediently. He is believed to be wearing civilian clothes at this time and may be travelling on foot.”

Anybody with information about Parrott's whereabouts is asked to contact either the police or the 48th Security Forces Control Center at 01638 522333.
