AN irresponsible yob has targeted a number of vehicles on the A14 by firing pink paint at them from a gun, police said today.

The incidents occurred around Haughley, near Stowmarket, between 9.30pm and 10pm on Monday.

Vehicles travelling towards Bury St Edmunds were targeted with what is believed to have been a paintball gun on the new section of the A14.

Roads Policing Acting Inspector Tim Lusher said: “This behaviour is extremely irresponsible and whilst no damage was caused by the paint pellets, it is fortunate that none of the drivers were distracted or had their vision obscured enough to cause a collision.

“Throwing or firing any item into traffic puts lives at risk, and anyone found to be doing so will be firmly dealt with.”

Police want to hear from anyone who was in the area of the new Haughley Bridge on Monday night, or anyone with information about the owner of the paintball gun.
