PETERBOROUGH Speedway has added a Polish option to their website and all latest news will now be available to the large Polish community living, working and studying in the Peterborough area.

The club were very impressed recently with the amount of Polish supporters that attended the Speedway World Cup event 2 at the Showground on the July 13, to watch Poland qualify for the final, and it was very noticeable that the majority of the Polish supporters were based locally.

It is hoped that this initiative will attract some of these fans to the Showground on a regular basis and benefit both the local community and Peterborough Speedway.

The club have three Polish riders amongst their club assets namely, Karol Zabik, Piotr Swiderski and Tomasz Bajerski and they plan to track at least one Polish rider in 2010.

All the latest news issued by the club will now be translated and made available on the Panthers Polish section of the web site so that Polish supporters living and working locally and in the UK can keep up to date with what's happening with the Panthers.

Peterborough Speedway would welcome any feedback on this initiative.

Promoter Mick Bratley said: “We have in the past tried to encourage the Polish community along to the Showground, and admittedly this has been without great success. However, things have moved on in the last couple of years, with a lot more Polish people living in our area, and it is a community we really must make every endeavour to communicate with. We hope to include one, maybe two, Polish riders in our side next year and together with them we intend to go into the heart of the Polish community and promote the club and our sport more vigorously than ever before”.

Owner Rick Frost said:”Having seen for myself the large numbers of Polish supporters at the SWC last week, thoroughly enjoying themselves and supporting their team, it seemed to me like a good idea to introduce a Polish language translation onto our website. All new Polish Panthers supporters can be sure of a warm welcome here at the East of England Showground and dates of our meetings are on our website”.
