Shoppers in Haverhill can currently park for free after 3pm in town car parks run by St Edmundsbury Borough Council.

The offer began on Saturday, December 15, and will end on Monday, December 24, and applies to all six town centre car parks.

Susan Glossop, St Edmundsbury cabinet member for growth, said: “Haverhill offers the Christmas shopper variety, good value and convenience.

“The borough council has made growth and healthy high streets a priority and this offer gives another reason to use the town’s many independent businesses and to enjoy an atmosphere unavailable online.

“I hope to see our shops and cafes well supported in the run-up to Christmas, and that support continuing in the new year.”

Peter Stevens, St Edmundsbury Cabinet member for operations, said: “The free after 3pm car parking applies to all six town centre car parks, which give good access to the High Street and will make it a little easier for busy people to support our retailers, visit the market, and spend a little longer discovering just what the town has to offer.”
