Parts of the Tendring District Council offices at Clacton Town Hall have been closed after a suspected gas leak.
The incident in Station Road has led to the closure of the housing reception and Tourist Information Centre while investigations continue.
A temporary housing reception has been set up at the council’s nearby Pier Avenue office for any housing advice and enquiries.
Tenants can also still report any emergency repairs via Careline on 01255 222022.
The authority has apologised for any inconvenience caused.
