Fire crews have tackled a blaze which engulfed a digger.
Firefighters were called to the incident in Peldon Road at 2.47pm.
A digger was completely alight and 10% of a 500 tonne muck heap was also on fire.
Crews from Mersea and Colchester used three hose reel jets to extinguish the fire by 3.27pm.
