POLICE have arrested a pensioner on suspicion of assaulting a police officer and affray after an incident at Nationwide building society in Bury St Edmunds.
Officers closed the branch in the Buttermarket while the 68-year-old was escorted from the building following the incident around 2pm today.
Staff were staying tight-lipped about the drama when the branch opened at 2.20pm.
The man is currently in custody at Bury Police Station.
