A PENSIONER caused four-mile tailbacks on the A12 after riding on the busy road on a mobility scooter.
Police were called to the southbound carriageway of the A12 shortly before 11am today.
It followed numerous 999 calls from drivers concerned for the welfare of the scooter rider travelling slowly in the inside lane.
Officers formed a rolling road block around the scooter to safeguard the rider, a man in his 80s and from the Chelmsford area, until he could be escorted off the road at the Danbury turn-off.
He has now been reported for careless driving.
