A PENSIONER was punched in the face on his own doorstep during a shocking unprovoked attack in a Suffolk village.

The 75-year-old man was assaulted by two men at his home address in Peasecroft Road, Ixworth, last night.

The men called at the property and made comments about dogs - even though no animals were kept at the address - before hitting the pensioner.

The attack, which took place at about 6pm, has prompted an urgent appeal for witnesses by police who have also issued descriptions of the men wanted in question with the assault.

The first man has been described as mixed race, of stocky build, around six feet tall and with very short black hair. He was wearing a plain light brown shirt.

The second male is said to be around 30 years old, six feet tall and of a large, stocky build. He was wearing a red top.

Anyone with information should contact Pc Simon Collins at Ixworth police station on 01284 774100.
