Hundreds of people are set to line the streets of Bury St Edmunds to form a “human chain of hope” to mark the United Nations International Day of Peace.

Following the success of the last year’s inaugural event, people will once again aim to join the town’s two war memorials by holding a blue ribbon.
The event will start at the Angel Hill memorial at 12.15pm on Sunday, September 24, and the ribbon will travel up Abbeygate Street before finishing at the Market Place memorial.
People can join in anywhere on the route, and will be directed by stewards. Town mayor Terry Clements will be at the Angel Hill memorial and students from West Suffolk College will be filming the event.
Clare Mellor, organiser, said: “There was such a good reception for the inaugural event last year we are making it an annual event.
“Wish us luck as we unfurl the ribbon as quickly as possible.”
