Police have confirmed that a person hit by a train in Kelvedon this evening was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident happened just before 5.30pm at the level crossing in Church Street.
British Transport Police and Essex Police both attended the scene following reports a person had been struck by a train.
Paramedics were also called to the scene and the line was closed.
A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesperson said: “BTP officers were called to the line at Kelvedon Level Crossing, Church Street, Kelvedon on Tuesday 13th February 2018 after a report that a person had been struck by a train.
“Officers from the BTP and Essex Police attended the incident, which was reported to BTP at 17:26 hours and is currently being treated as non suspicious. “Medics from the East of England Ambulance Service also attended but the person was pronounced deceased at the scene.”
Disruption continues on the train line and services are not expected to be running again as normal until 1am.
