Some Town fans walked away from the goalless draw with a layer of what appeared to be white paint on their backs, with some home fans suffering having similar problems.
A spokesman for the club said rain and damp weather conditions meant some painted walls in the home and away ends deteriorated, which led to a chalky surface film transferring to clothing when fans touched it.
The spokesman added: “We apologise to any supporters who were affected by this anomaly and are sorry for any inconvenience caused.
“We have been informed that these marks can be washed out but will reimburse the dry-cleaning cost of an individual item upon receiving a single item receipt only with the item named and the cleaning company name and contact details on the receipt.”
