The 28-year-old Pietersen has served as England skipper for just five months, but has recently been involved in a public falling out with Moores, which became public on New Year's Eve.
It is thought their row was sparked by a decision not to recall former captain Michael Vaughan to the side for the upcoming tour of the West Indies, a move that Pietersen disagreed with.
