Storm Aileen brought 60mph winds to Suffolk and north Essex this week, causing falling trees, blocked roads and homes without power. But what will the weather bring this weekend?

It was a chilly start this morning, with temperatures as low as 2.8 Celsius (37.04 Fahrenheit) in Santon Downham - the coldest part of East Anglia this morning according to Weatherquest forecaster Dan Holley.

Unfortunately the forecast for the weekend isn’t looking much brighter, with heavy showers forecasted for Saturday and rain also likely on Sunday.

Tonight temperatures are set to drop back down to 3 Celsius (37.4 Fahrenheit), and to sit between 5-6 Celsius (41-42.8 Fahrenheit) on Saturday morning.

“Both nights will be chilly,” Mr Holley said. “This is down to the winds being lighter, which allows temperatures to drop a lot lower.

“At best East Anglia could get to a temperature of 17 Celsius (62.6 Fahrenheit) over the weekend.

“However not everywhere will, due to cloud distribution and showers. The showers will knock temperatures down.”
