POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man approached a woman and led her into a park.

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man approached a woman and led her into a park.

The woman was walking towards Station Street from Cardinal Park in Ipswich when she was approached by a man at about 10.20pm last night.

He took hold of her and led her from Stoke Bridge along Burrell Road under the bridge and into Gippeswyk Park. They went into the park and onto a path but as they reached the end of the path heading towards London Road a member of the public walking past caused the man to walk away from the woman.

The man who took hold of the woman is described as being white, 5ft 8in tall with short brown hair and was wearing a three-quarter length coat with a fur hood, which he had over his head. He was also wearing dark blue jeans and shoes.

The man who walked past the couple is described as being white, 5ft 6in to 5ft 7in tall with short dark hair wearing a white and light coloured top.
