POLICE are appealing for information after a woman was pulled into a car and driven through several streets in Lowestoft before she managed to escape.

Police are appealing for information after an incident which occurred opposite Sparrows Nest Gardens in the Yarmouth Road area at about 3.30am to 4.05am.

A 20-year-old woman was walking home and had walked from High Street past the Park Road junction when she was grabbed by the arm and pulled into a car. The car then drove off.

The woman told the driver to let her out, but the man kept driving, first along Harris Avenue, then into Hollingsworth Road and Montgomery Avenue before the driver stopped in El Alamein Road. The d woman then got out of the car and the man drove off. She made her way to a relative's house nearby.

The woman sustained some bruising to her arm, but was not hurt or assaulted in any other way.

Police need to trace the man who was driving the dark red car, which has been described around the size of a Vauxhall Corsa, but squarer in shape.

The man is described as having tanned skin, short dark hair and dark eyes, possibly in his 30s or 40s, of medium build and wearing a jumper and dark blue trousers or jeans.

He spoke with what the woman thought was a non-English accent.

Officers need to trace him and are asking anyone with information about who he is to call DC Stevens at Lowestoft police on 01986 835300.

Police would also like to hear from anyone who was in the Yarmouth Road area between 3.30am and 4.15am on Saturday.
