Police are investigating a reported rape which took place in Ipswich last night.

The incident took place in the vicinity of St Margaret’s Church, Bolton Lane, sometime just before 9.30pm.

The victim, a woman in her 30s, was behind the church in the churchyard when a man came from behind her and pulled her to the ground.

It is reported that the man raped the woman before leaving via the front of the church.

The man is described as having an eastern European accent, possibly Russian.

Police have arrested two men in connection with the incident, and they have been taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre to be questioned by detectives.

Suffolk police said the victim is being supported by specially trained officers and a scene is in place to enable officers to fully investigate the circumstances.
