A 70-year-old man was made the target of a robbery in Bury St Edmunds.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was hospitalised following a robbery in Bury St Edmunds.

The incident happened shortly after 11pm on June 28, when the victim was targeted near the Arc Shopping Centre on St Andrew’s Street.

It is not clear where the attack took place, but police believe it may have been in the alleyway between King’s Road and the Waitrose car park.

It is reported that the offender met the victim near to shopping centre a few minutes before the attack, where a small quantity of money was forcibly taken.

The 70-year-old victim was taken to West Suffolk Hospital for treatment of a back injury and has now been released.

The offender is described as white and aged in his 40s.
