Police call for witnesses after burglary of elderly woman

Police are appealing for witnesses after a conman tricked his way into an elderly woman’s home today and made off with a significant amount of cash.

A man came to the house in Fir Lane, Lowestoft, at around 12.30pm today.

He told the woman, who is in her 80s, he was from the water board and said he needed to get into the house after something had gone wrong in a neighbouring property.

He then searched the house and it later emerged a quantity of cash had been taken from one of the rooms.

The man, who was thought to be on foot, is described as white, around 5ft tall, with dark hair and in his late teens to early 30s. He was wearing a grey pullover, grey trousers and dark-coloured trainers.
