Exercising a warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act, officers from the East unit of the Scorpion drugs team searched a flat on Station Road in Southwold yesterday (March 13) morning.

On the second floor, police found items with an estimated value of around £100,000 including 145 cannabis plants, a large amount of hydroponics equipment and associated paraphernalia. The factory was subsequently dismantled.

A 31-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman were arrested at the scene by officers from the Scorpion team, both on suspicion of production of cannabis and abstracting electricity.

The pair were taken to Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre for questioning and later released under investigation pending further enquiries.
