Alistair Grant of Mansbrook Boulevard, Ipswich, was last seen by a family member in Colchester on Tuesday.
He possibly has access to money and a small overnight bag with him but he is not believed to be in possession of a mobile phone.
Areas Mr Grant is known to frequent have been checked and friends and family contacted but all enquiries have so far proved negative.
He is driving a red Toyota Celica with the registration N872KRT, which also has a ski roof rack, and he has an overweight Dalmatian bitch called Trotsky with him.
