POLICE in Essex have launched an investigation to establish the cause of a crash in Chelmsford last night that left a 38-year-old man dead.

POLICE in Essex have launched an investigation to establish the cause of a crash in Chelmsford last night that left a 38-year-old man dead.

The accident happened at about 9pm last night when Darren Bond's black Range Rover crashed into a lamppost near his home in Springfield Park Road, Chelmsford.

Mr Bond was rushed to Broomfield Hospital but died later in the evening.

An Essex Police spokesman said: “Police are investigating the circumstances leading to a crash in Springfield Park Road, Chelmsford last night in which a man has sadly died.

“A post mortem examination will take place in due course to ascertain the cause of the man's death.”
