Police are investigating a possible link between a distraction burglary in Lakenheath and four similar incidents across west Norfolk over the past two weeks.

In each case, elderly residents were targeted by a woman offering cleaning services before cash and jewellery was stolen.

On Saturday, September 9, around 1.45pm an elderly resident in Quayside Court, Lakenheath, arrived home with her shopping and left her front door open while she went inside.

A few minutes later she heard a knock on the front door and a smartly dressed female was there asking if the victim wanted any cleaning done to which the victim refused on numerous occasions.

Shortly after, the female walked in to the property and into various rooms continuing to ask about cleaning. The victim followed her and the female then asked for a cup of tea.

While the victim was in the kitchen, the female said she had to leave. After she had gone, the elderly victim then realised that a gold and diamond ring in its box was missing.

On Tuesday, August 30, a man and a woman cold called at a property on Wisbech Road in the village of Outwell, near Downham Market, offering cleaning at a discounted rate.

They returned the next day to carry out the work and after the individuals left the property, the owners discovered that jewellery had been taken, including necklaces, an eternity ring, gold chains and an Omega watch with a black leather strap.

A further incident took place on Friday, September 8, at a property on London Road in Downham Market, where a woman called at a home offering cleaning free of charge. A Tag Heuer watch and a ring were stolen.

On Tuesday, September 12, between 10am and 10.30am, a woman offering a free hour’s cleaning for the over 70s cold called at a property in Mill Road in Watlington, near Kings Lynn, and stole cash.

On the same morning, a woman offering cleaning services cold called at a property on Stow Road in nearby Wiggenhall St Mary Magdalen, and stole cash, cheques and jewellery.

The female is described as white, in her late twenties or early thirties, around 5ft 4in tall, of a slim build with brown hair that was either short or was pulled back.
