Police are investigating a possible link between a number of burglary incidents at businesses on the High Street in Southwold.

Cash was stolen from three premises while attempts were also made to get into two further businesses during the same timeframe.

Overnight patrols have been stepped up in the area and officers are liaising with the town council and local businesses regarding crime prevention advice.

At sometime overnight between Saturday, January 6, and Sunday, January 7, a window at the rear of the The Black Olive Delicatessen was smashed and cash was stolen from within.

The St Elizabeth Hospice charity shop was also hit between 4pm on Sunday, January 7, and 8.25am on Monday, January 8, and cash was stolen after a back window was forced.

Cash was also stolen from Observatory the Opticians during the same time after entry was forced to the back of the premises.

An attempt to break into the Two Magpies Bakery was also made sometime between 7pm on Sunday, January 7, and 5am on Monday, January 8, but nothing was stolen.

The Sue Ryder Care shop was also targeted between 4.30pm on Sunday, January 7, and 4pm on Monday, January 8, as an attempt was made to force a door at the back of the business. Nothing was stolen.

Anybody who saw anything suspicious at the relevant times or who has any information are asked to call police on 101, quoting reference 1257/18 (Black Olive Delicatessen), 1404/18 (St Elizabeth Hospice), 1449/18 (Observatory the Opticians), 1406/18 (Two Magpies Bakery) or 1569/18 (Sue Ryder).
