POLICE in Essex are investigating the “suspicious” death of a woman whose body was found in a river.
A passer-by spotted the body in the River Colne at Colchester this morning and the area was cordoned off while officers examined the scene, close to Sheepen Place.
An Essex Police spokeswoman said a major investigation had been launched, with the death being treated as suspicious.
The woman has not yet been identified and a post-mortem examination is due to take place on Monday.
